Signature Blocker is a Chrome extension that visually collapses email signatures, legal disclaimers, quoted replies and mobile taglines in Gmail.
What the extension accesses
- Email content on mail.google.com, only to decide what to collapse on your screen. This happens entirely inside your browser.
- Your settings (on/off, which clutter types to collapse, sensitivity, sender whitelist), stored with
chrome.storage.syncso they follow your Chrome profile.
What we collect
Nothing, unless you turn on AI assist (below). There are no analytics and no tracking, and with AI assist off the developer never receives your emails, your settings or any information about you.
Optional AI assist (off by default)
If you turn on AI assist and sign in with Google:
- When the built-in rules can't tell where a signature starts, the last ~20 lines of that one message are sent from your browser to the Signature Blocker server (
signatureblocker.com), which forwards them to OpenAI's API to find where the signature begins. Requests to OpenAI are sent withstore: false. The server does not save the email text; it only uses it to answer that one request. - Google sign-in is used only to give each account its free monthly allowance ($1 of AI use). The server keeps a one-way hash of your Google account ID and this month's usage total, nothing else. Your email address, name and messages are not stored.
- Usage totals are deleted automatically after about 40 days.
- OpenAI's handling of the request is covered by its privacy policy.
- If you turn AI assist off, the extension signs out and gives up its permission to reach the server.
Changes to your email
None. The extension only hides parts of the page while you read. It never changes, sends, deletes or stores your messages, and replies and forwards still include the original content.
